10 Lessons I Have Learned From Designing Posters Every Day

I started my year off with a daily poster challenge and this is what I have learned so far.

  1. Designing a poster is the easiest and the hardest thing at the same time.

  2. Within the chaos of your mind, you have a poster waiting to be designed.

  3. It’s not about how many ideas you can fit in a design, it’s about how well you design only one idea.

  4. There are infinite poster ideas. Your mind is like a rolodex, the more you expose yourself to things, the most ideas you retain.

  5. I started this challenge by spending 3 to 4 hours for one poster, now I can do it in 1 hour or less within 3 months. Practice makes process efficient.

  6. It’s not about how good you will do today, it’s about showing up every day even if it’s bad. Consistency is key.

  7. Design whatever the fuck you want. Nobody cares. Experiment. There are literally no rules.

  8. Design like it’s ART.

  9. With all the chaos of work and life, you learn to design in immense pressure with time running out before the clock hits 12. Everybody can design with a coffee in hand and well rested. Can you design when you are sick, tired, stressed, exhausted, confused, lost, anxiety and everything life throws at you? This is the ultimate challenge.

  10. If you think you are not growing as a designer, this challenge is for you. Try it for at least a month then see how it automatically boosts your confidence as a designer where you learn your strengths and weaknesses, learn new skills and become super efficient.

These were my key takeaways from 3+ months of designing posters every day. I don’t know for how long I will continue the series so hope you are enjoying my posts on here and hope you learned something today.

This is my first article so thank you for reading. See you next time!
